How assistive communication doubles users' quality of life

There are millions of people worldwide with communication disabilities due to conditions such as cerebral palsy, autism and ALS who require assistive communication (like speech generating devices and eye trackers) to express themselves. Most are unaware the technology exists or aren’t eligible for financial coverage.

We at Augur are very proud to present the study “Exploring the Benefits of Assistive Communication”, commissioned by Tobii Dynavox. This project has been one of our most impactful and details the impact this technology has from a health economic perspective. Our study shows that the perceived quality of life doubles for users of high-tech assistive communication tools like the ones developed by Tobii Dynavox, but also that the benefits extend beyond the users, positively affecting their networks and society as a whole, and that investments in high-tech assistive communication solutions for people with disabilities possibly can pay for themselves three times over.

This study is now available to download from https://www.assistivecommunication.com/report (English) or https://www.assistivecommunication.com/rapport (Swedish). Please feel free to read and share the link to this page widely to help build awareness about the benefits of assistive communication and AAC.
